Position: Lead Teacher/Director

Woodland Hill Preschool is seeking an experienced and dedicated Director and Lead Teacher to provide exceptional educational leadership and create a nurturing learning environment for young children at the U.P.'s oldest cooperative preschool. As Director and Lead Teacher, you will play a vital role in designing and implementing developmentally appropriate, play-based curriculum, fostering children's social, emotional, and intellectual growth, and establishing strong partnerships with parents and the community.

 

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement a comprehensive, play-based curriculum that aligns with the Michigan Early Childhood Standards, fostering holistic development and encouraging a love for learning

• Create a well-organized, stimulating, and safe learning environment, ensuring that materials and resources are age-appropriate and readily accessible to enhance the children's learning experiences

• Lead engaging and interactive play-based learning sessions, providing instruction and support in various subjects, including language development, math, science, art, and social skills

• Foster a caring and compassionate atmosphere, nurturing children's emotional well-being, and promoting positive social interactions among peers

• Ensure the safety and well-being of all children at the preschool, adhering to health and safety regulations, and promptly addressing any concerns

• Work collaboratively with Co-Director to ensure licensing requirements are met and preschool facility and operations are maintained

 

Requirements:

• State-required Early Childhood Program Director license holder

  • Bachelor's degree in early childhood education, or equivalent

  • Montessori credential + requisite number of semester hours and teaching hours

  • Associates degree in early childhood education + requisite number of semester hours and teaching hours

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Passion for working with young learners

• Current CPR and First Aid certifications

• Background check required

• 3 professional references
